PORT HAROURT — AS reactions continue to trail the 2014 Rivers State budget, All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, has described the same day presentation and passage of the budget as a demonstration of the doctrine of necessity.
Interim state Chairman of the party, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, in statement in Port Harcourt, yesterday, commended the state House of Assembly for speedily debating and passing the budget, as this would enable the wheel of government to run without undue encumbrances.
He said: “This is another demonstration of the doctrine of necessity for which the lawmakers should be commended. While we look forward to reopening of the state Assembly Complex presently under siege, it would be wrong to bring governance to a halt because it is the masses who will suffer and not Governor Amaechi as an individual,” Ikanya said.
In the statement by Chukwuemeka Eze, his media aide, the state APC boss said it was contradictory that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, went to court and got judgment invalidating National Assembly takeover of the Rivers legislature.
