The Commissioner of police in the state, Adamu Abubakar Mohammed, who stated this through a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu gave the breakdown as follows: 92 armed robbery suspects, 30 kidnap suspects, 11 suspected cultists, 15 car snatching suspects, 13 vandals and three stealing suspects.
He also disclosed that a total number of 39 arms and 51 ammunitions were recovered while 7 kidnapped victims were rescued without payment of any ransom, adding that a total of 18 vehicles were recovered.
Adamu noted that the above figure when compared with that of 2012, showed a drastic reduction in crime rate in the state.
“From the record, there is drastic reduction of crime in the year 2013 as most crimes that would have occurred were promptly prevented in line with the tenet of proactive policing strategies which the command believed in”, assuring that the year 2014 would witness a better record.Adamu further stated that “members of the public were positively sensitized on the need to be security conscious about their environment and properties and be able to report promptly to the command through the designated numbers on information about crime and criminality, and the command’s security operatives were always on hand to attend to any distress calls within the shortest possible time”.
He lauded the strong partnership between the state command and sister security agencies, the government and good the people of the state as well as other relevant stake holders, which according to him had contributed in making the state safe and secured.
