BENIN— THE Forum of Former Local Government Council Chairmen in Edo South senatorial district, Edo State, yesterday, attributed the recent accident involving Governor Adams Oshiomhole to the failure of the Federal Government to accelerate work on the dualisation of the Auchi-Abuja Road.

Chairman of the Forum and former chairman of Egor Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Crosby Eribo, who regretted the poor state of the road despite the fact that sons of the state have held positions as Minister of Works and other top federal appointments, recalled that Ewu axis of the road had killed well known Edo sons.

It will be recalled that Oshiomhole survived an accident on the road last week after a bus loaded with plantain rammed into the governor’s car. The governor’s car, a bullet-proof BMW, was damaged beyond repairs.
Thanking God for saving the governor’s life, Eribo recalled “that was the same area Chief Ekhabafe died, even the former CPS to the governor died on that part of the road in the first tenure of the governor. That road is so small.

“It is sad that sons of Edo State have been Minister of Works, but failed to use their influence to dualize the road. I am aware they have commenced the dualization, but the job is too slow and our people are dying every day.
“It would have been a disaster for us as a people and Nigerians to lose a governor, who is doing very well. The Federal Government must learn to forget politics and focus on projects that will benefit Nigerians.”
