Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
PORT HARCOURT — A group, Voice of South South, VoSS, has questioned what it termed the sudden interest of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on the water situation in Rivers State, of all the myriads of problems, such as environmental pollution, facing the state.
The group, in a statement by its Chairman, Mr. Mike Ogiasa and the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Sowaribi Tolofari, said: “In Obasanjo’s controversial letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, he mentioned a loan for a water project in Rivers State.
“We are curious about ex-President Obasanjo’s sudden interest in the welfare of the people of Rivers State. He was President for eight years and did not know that there was no water in Rivers State though visited the state more than any other state in the federation.”
The group said it was mischievous to write the 18-page letter when President Jonathan was out of the country, adding that Jonathan had the right to run for a second term in office.
