LAGOS— A 35-year-old mechanic, Saheed Adegbola, was yesterday docked before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Ikeja, for allegedly stealing a bus worth N800,000.
The defendant who resides at 1, Shomuiwa Street, Alagbado area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The defendant, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was arraigned before Magistrate Margaret Dan-Oni.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Edet Okoi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence sometime in October 2011.
Okoi said the defendant conspired with others at 68/70 JesusSavePlaza at Iyana Ejigbo and stole a Dodge Ram Bus valued N800,000 belonging to one Isaac Njepu.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is contrary to section 516 and punishable under section 402 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011.
However, the magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the matter to January 20, 2014, for mention.
