It was fun fare penultimate Friday when 23-year old Queen Uba who hails from Imo State emerged the winner of the first ever centenary pageant which held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Miss Queen Uba beats the likes of Miss Ogun State, Roots Odutola and Miss Cross River,Ruth Cobhams who were 1st and 2nd runner up respectively to clinch the star prize.
The grand finale which held at Gloryland Cultural Center,Yenagoa, saw the 20 finalists being engaged in different activities ranging from quiz to cat walking and display of fashion. At the end of the exercise, Uba emerged the overall winner of the beauty contest. Other prices won by the contestants include the most photogenic contestant and the Best costume among others.
Anchored by a renowned fashion designer, Mai Atafo and Wunika Mukan, the show could be said to have lived up to its billings as it was a suspense filled event. The audiences were unable to predict the winner until she was finally announced.
The show was spiced up with stage performance by Bayelsa born singer, Timi Dakolo. His performance was greeted with thunderous ovation from the cheering crowd. The talented singer rendered such tracks as “Justice in the world, and “The woman I love” among others.
CEO of AOE entertainment, Nike Oshinowo said, Queen Ubah would use her position as the centenary queen to open an NGO which will help the less-privileged.
