ABAKALIKI—A businessman, Mr. Chimezie Oti Benson, 38, from Ndigbuka, Ihie, Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was last weekend kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Eke Market square in the community.

The businessman, who deals in hot drinks and other food items, was kidnapped  around 7:30pm on the fateful day.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chris Anyanwu, disclosed that information gathered from one Master Obinna Okafor and Godswill (workers of the victim) revealed that the kidnappers invaded the victims’ shop inside the market with sophisticated weapons.

He stated that the workers of the victim further revealed that the two kidnappers shot sporadically into the air to disperse customers and traders who were still transacting their businesses in the area, dragged the victim into a waiting vehicle and zoomed off.

According to command’s spokesman, the statement of the boys did not reveal the identity of the vehicle their master was taken away in.
