AWKA—THE new Anambra State commissioner of police, Mr. Gwary Usman Akila yesterday, met with area commanders and divisional police officers in the state on how to ensure security, assuring that those returning for the Yuletide would be properly secured.

Akila replaced Mr. Bala Nasarawa who has been posted to Umuahia as the AIG in charge of Zone nine.

Addressing reporters in his office, Akila said Anambra is a state that needed proper policing, but insisted that since the police cannot do it alone, the cooperation of the public was highly needed.

He said: “My predecessors had done well and I want to improve on what they did. So, I am prepared to take the bull by the horn and my men have assured me that they will cooperate with me.”
