Our energy reforms yielding positive results – Lagos govt

By LAJA THOMAS

Lagos State Government has said that its energy reform initiatives are yielding positive results following series of energy conservation campaigns at various city malls during the dedicated month of Energy Conservation, October 2013.

The awareness campaign, which took place at the Mega Plaza, Victoria-Island, Lagos, has members of the Lagos State Electricity Board on ground to enlighten residents on the benefits of conserving energy in their homes and offices

The campaign which is an initiative of the state Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through its implementing arm, Lagos State Electricity Board, LSEB, is aimed at cultivating energy conservation behaviour amongst residents of Lagos.

At the energy conservation awareness campaign venue, residents had the opportunity to calculate their energy consumption with the energy calculator and could see how much money they will be saving if they turned off appliances when not in use, at home and work places.  Participants in the campaign were incentivised with a raffle ticket to win prizes and energy conservation goody bags.

Lagos State residents were encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities of the energy awareness campaign to conserve energy and save money. The next activation will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the e-Centre, Yaba Lagos.
