Police arrest man for alleged murder in Ebonyi

ABAKALIKI – EBONYI State police command, yesterday, arrested one Ifeanyi Udu Anthony Igwe for allegedly killing one Ogodo Emmanuel, 24, of Amaofia village, Okposhi Ehuegu Ngbo in Ohaukwu local government area.

The state police spokesman, DSP Sylvester Igbo, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to newsmen in Abakaliki, revealed that the deceased was killed and buried in a farm in the area by the suspect.

He noted that the police had discovered the spot where the deceased was buried in the farm but noted that the body of the victim was yet to be exhumed to ascertain the circumstances that led to his death.

According to him, the suspect has confessed to the crime, while investigation is still on to ascertain the identities of his collaborators.

He said:  “On September 22, 2013 information on murder was received by the police at Ohaukwu local government area that one Ifeanyi Udu Anthony Igwe, aged 23, of Amaofia village, Okposhi Ehuegu Ngbo killed one Ogodo Emmanuel aged 24 years on September 18, 2013 in the night and buried him inside one farm in the area over ownership of handset phone.

“The suspect had been arrested and the spot where the victim was buried has been discovered while exhumation is yet to take place, the machete used to kill the deceased has not been recovered.”
