Crisis rocks Anambra LP

BY ENYIM ENYIM

ONITSHA—Labour Party in Anambra State, yesterday, joined the fray of crisis-ridden political parties in the state as a factional governorship candidate, Mr. Peter Nwosu, headed for the court claiming he was the authentic flag bearer of the party.

This is coming barely two weeks after the national leadership of the party officially handed over the party flag to Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah as its governorship candidate for the November 16 governorship election in the state.

Speaking with Vanguard, Nwosu said he had to go to court to get his ticket to contest the election because the national leadership of the party, under Mr. Dan Nwanyanwu, compromised the party primary election, and did not allow for a level playing ground for the aspirants.

Nwosu, who claimed to be one of the founding members of LP in 2000, said he headed to court to ensure that justice was done in the controversy as to who was the authentic candidate for LP.

He said: ”Anybody can say anything that he likes. If anybody says that I am not a member of the party.

The authentic executive in the state are all with me. So, the court will decide who is the candidate of the party.”
