Delta embarks on 150 housing units scheme

By Emma Amaize

ASABA — DELTA State Government has embarked on the construction of a ‘workers village,’ made up of 150 housing units, to be occupied on owner-occupier basis by civil servants in the state.

The organised labour in the state, led by the chairmen of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. William Akporeha and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Mr. Mike Arinze, visited the construction site in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area, to ascertain the progress of work.

Akporeha said: “With what we have seen, this project is highly commendable. I have never doubted the ability of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on issues that affect labour in the state. This initiative has further given us the assurance that he will never abandon us.

“Our prayer is that the governor will see to the completion of this project.”

Arinze, on his part, said what he saw was impressive, adding “it is a major step in bringing houses for Deltans and workers in particular.”
