BY PETER EGWUATU

The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has expressed satisfaction over Syke Bank Plc’s initiative in pioneering the customer service charter that is designed to give customers confidence in their transactions.

The Head of Lagos office of the CPC, Mrs. Ngozi Obidike, who gave the commendation at the launch of the charter said, Syke Bank needs to send a copy of the charter to the council so that it can make its input being a consumer protection agency that has the interest of consumers generally, adding that “ the initiative is a lovely one.”

Speaking at the launch of the charter on Wednesday, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti, described the charter as the bank’s contract with its customers to demonstrate its commitment to providing quality customer service through its people, processes and systems.

Describing the charter as a pace setting and industry-defining innovation, the Skye Bank boss said the customer-centric model seeks continuous service improvement in a bid to make customers of the bank happy and satisfied.

“This charter outlines the type of service we aim to provide, how customers can contact us to give us feedback, especially on areas of improvement and how they can partner with us for continuous service improvement”, he said.

Durosinmi-Etti who observed that customer service remained the key differentiator in the financial services industry all over the world, said the charter became imperative because today’s customers are more sophisticated, discerning and more demanding than ever before.
