ABEOKUTA — Strong indications emerged,yesterday, that the National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party may overrule the suspension slammed on the former governor of Ogun State,Otunba Gbenga Daniel for alleged anti-party activities.

Daniel who was suspended by his ward in Sagamu ward 12, in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state, was  accused of anti-party activities which includes alleged funding of Labour Party.

Speaking at the commissioning of the party Secretariat in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, beside Alake Sport Centre, in Ijeja Abeokuta,  the National Chairman of the party,  Alhaji Bamanga Tukur  described Daniel as a statesman  that must be accorded his deserved status.

Tukur  who was represented by  a chieftain of the  party  who is also the  Chairman,  Governing Council of Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Engr. Jide Adeniji  said  the former governor is a statesman and  before a  man of his calibre could be suspended  it has to come from the National Executive Council,  NEC, of the party.

“If the suspension was not legally followed, it will be reviewed by the National Executive Council . “Daniel  is still a member of PDP. Peradventure, some of his followers are in Labour Party, he can’t stop them,” he said.

He, however, disclosed the party’s  plan to reconcile all the aggrieved members of the party including the former governor  at a meeting  which he said  would hold in Abuja in the next two weeks.
