IBADAN— LAWMAKERS in the Oyo State House of Assembly who won their seats on the platform of the Accord Party, AP and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, disagreed with their leaders on the performance of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
While their leaders in AP and PDP criticised the governor’s achievements in the last two years, the lawmakers said the governor should be carried shoulder high for his efforts.
Senator Rashidi Ladoja, leader of the Accord Party in the state had openly condemned the governor’s policies as being anti-masses.
The legislators, including those from the ACN, yesterday unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the governor for his performance in the last two years.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan of the Accord Party, described Governor Ajimobi as intelligent, sound, solid, sincere, industrious and accountable.
He said,“You have, in the last two years, demonstrated that you want us all to work together to move Oyo State forward”.
In the words of the Minority Leader, Mr. Rafiu Adekunle of the PDP: “You are performing and we want you to perform more; we are very grateful and happy to work with you. Those of us in other political parties (aside the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria) cannot see something good and say it is bad; You are doing well and please continue your good work”.
The governor was in the House to give an account of his stewardship in the last two years.
Ajimobi, in his reply, said, “The acceptance and encouragement you gave me during that first State of the State address became the fillip with which we moulded the even more painstaking and concerted achievements that we have recorded in the last two years.”
