PORT HARCOURT — MINISTER of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has charged the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State to reconcile with aggrieved members of the party.
Wike, weekend, at a thanksgiving service organised by the party in Port Harcourt, the state capital, also tasked the new leadership of the party to accord the governor of the state his rightful place in the party. Describing the governor as the leader of the party in the state, Wike noted that power had come back to the original owners of the party in the state.
He said: “Power has returned to the original owners. The people who just lost out in the process will be angry and they will show anger in their behaviour towards you. It is only natural because they are human beings also.
“However, we should not allow ourselves to be drawn into unnecessary feuds because they are abusing us. We must be abused. The chairman of our party should see himself as a father and make sure he reconciles all aggrieved party members. He must have a large heart and now proceed to bring back his children.
“I must state this again, I am a minister and not the governor of the state and the governor of the state is the party leader and must be respected as such.”
On his part, the state Chairman of the party, Mr Felix Obuah, assured that the party would support President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term.
