Bayelsa draw slows down Rangers

Rangers failed to move to the top of the table on Monday as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Bayelsa United.

Rangers are now second with 18 points, while Bayelsa are seventh with 17 points.

Oghogho Oduokpe, who scored Rangers goal blamed their inability to win the game on hard luck.

“We had everything at our disposal to win the game, but we couldn’t. We still have to thank God that the game ended successfully. We were just unlucky not to have won the game, we have all the chances to wrap up the game but it didn’t happen,” Oduokpe said

Bayelsa United goalkeeper Emmanuel Fabiyi said he is happy with the draw on the road.

“I am so happy with this draw. This point will do a lot to us, it will improve our standings on league table and as well as increase our confidence,” said Fabiyi.

“Rangers played very well, we came here for victory which we could have got if not for the penalty awarded to them. I thank God for given me strength to do well.”
