CALABAR — SUPREMACY war ragging between the Vikings and Klux Klu Klan (KKK) confraternities in Obudu, in the northern part of Cross River State has fell over five members of the two nocturnal clubs.

The inter-cult conflict which started last Thursday ragged throughout the weekend as members of the warring groups hunt members of rival  group with guns and machetes with which they mained and killed with impunity.

The names of  three of the five cultists killed include Aniah Ante, Andeshi Inde and Loveday Atiang.

Both sides have remained silent as to the immediate cause of the conflict and residents of the town who are too scared of the attacks  have also remained silent.

Vanguard investigation reveal that the feud was sparked off  by a fracas between two students of the Federal College of Education who belong to the two cult groups and had  a face-off over a girl which eventually degenerated into a brawl.

“Two young men were feuding over a girl and this led to a fight and eventually the two cults became involved and this led to loss of lives,” a source said.

When Vanguard visited the school, Saturday, the place was like a ghost town as majority of the students have left the hostel while the few remaining are keeping indoors to avoid mistaken identity or stray bullet.

The Divisional Police Officer for Obudu said the police had brought the situation under control while D S P John Umoh, spokesman of the Cross River Police Command who confirmed the incident said “one person has been officially confirmed dead.”
