KIDNAPPERS, last week, invaded Olo Community in Ezeagu local government area,Enugu state and abducted a young man that just returned from Europe together with his maternal brother.

The two brothers whose names were given as Cajethan Nweke, a building materials merchant and Malite Onyibo, were abducted at the hinterland market, Nkwo Olo at the wee hours of last Wednesday by unknown gunmen.  It was gathered that the two brothers had gone out to take some drinks with their friend, Cyril Agudike, who was left with a broken head after the gunmen sped off with the two people to an unknown destination after firing several gun shots into the air to scare away people who scampered for safety.

An eye witness told Crime Alert that, “nobody suspected that such a thing could happen in Olo town due to the peaceful nature of the town. We thought that the abductors equally came to drink but when they started shooting and ordered the two brothers to lie down, it became clear that it was no longer business as usual, things have fallen apart.”

The gunmen reportedly shot sporadically into the air before they sped off with

their victims under the shadow of darkness. A villager told Crime Alert, “we are hearing about kidnapping but did not know that they would enter into our village to carry out their nefarious activities. It was dinner time when we started hearing gunshots. We could not believe that gunmen could come and abduct Caje and his maternal brother who just returned from Europe.”

The abductors allegedly came in a bus and laid siege for their victims who were celebrating the happy return of their Europe based brother unknown to them that they had been ambushed.

Caje and Malite hailed from Ogulogu Olo Community, Ezeagu LGA Enugu state while Caje is domiciled at the hinterland Nkwo market settlement where he runs a building materials business. A family source who pleaded anonymous told Crime Alert that the kidnappers have opened up discussions with the family, demanding N30 million as ransom.

“How can we raise that kind of money, we are pleading for them to release our brothers, they are two young men from a family, losing them would be too heavy for the family to bear,” he explained.

Enugu state police image maker, Ebere Amarizu confirmed the incident,explaining that the family reported direct to Enugu state anti-kidnap unit assuring that the state police command have swooped into action.
