Asaba—GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, has approved the release of over N1.6 billion to the 25 local government areas in the state for the implementation of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, at the grassroots.

State Commissioner, Directorate of Local Government Affaris, Mr. Newworld Safugha, in Asaba, weekend, made the disclosure and urged the local government chairmen “to judiciously execute the projects and programmes in their councils for the benefit of the people at the grassroots  in line with the approved proposal.”

Safugha emphasised that “the funds were for the months of May 2012 to January 2013, totalling N1,693 billion.”

The breakdown shows that Ughelli North Local Government Area got  the largest chunk of the release – N90.383 million, followed by Warri South Local Government Area with  N85.568 million, while Patani Local Government Area got the least share of N54.098 million.
