Asaba—FOLLOWING a recent judgment by a Federal High Court, Asaba, Delta State, declaring the Ukwuani constituency seat in Delta State House of Assembly vacant, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, are locked in a battle of wits over who would retain the seat, eventually.
Although the embattled member representing Ukwuani constituency, Dr. Alphonsus Ojo, had appealed the judgment, the two political parties have started campaigning, in the event the appeal turns out unsuccessful and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducts fresh election as ordered by the court.
State Chairman of DPP, Chief Tony Ezeagwu told Vanguard in Asaba, yesterday: “We are prepared for any election. Ukwuani is our catchment area.”
On his part, Senior Political Adviser to the governor, Chief Ighoyota Amori, dismissed the DPP claim, saying, “We are in firm control of the state and PDP will win election anytime, anyday in Delta.”
