NSCDC destroys illegal crude refinery in Ondo

AKURE – THE Ondo command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, said yesterday, that it has destroyed an illegal crude oil refinery in Irele Council Area of the state.

A statement signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kayode Balogun, said the facility was located at Iju-Osun village area in Irele which is a creek beside river Siloko that link Ondo and Edo states.

Balogun said the action was made possible because of a tip-off by some residents of the area.

According to him: “The illegal crude oil was being refined at sea shore and later deposited in Iju-Osun for evacuation by vehicles to various places through Irele and Ore road.

“About eight flying boats were seen ready to off load, while some were on the sea already loaded.

“All the items seen at the scene were destroyed.”

Balogun added that a suspect, Mr. Joshua Oluwatosin was arrested with three flying boats engine, one pumping machine, generator, motor cycle, and 20 kegs of 30 liters each of adulterated diesel”.

He said, “the suspect will soon be charged to court.”
