Akure—THE candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last governorship election in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, yesterday, closed his case before the Election Petition Tribunal challenging the victory of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

This came as he failed attempt to tender 12 volumes of the analysis of over 100,000 names allegedly injected into the 2011 voters register by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was rejected by the tribunal after over five hours of legal fireworks by counsels.

The three-man tribunal led by Justice Andovar Kaka’an, rejected the documents on the premise that they were not pleaded in the petition and that they were unsigned by the maker.

Oke who gave evidence as the 45th witness fought in vain to tender the analysis of the voters register of 2011, that showed that new names were illegally injected into the register used for the October 20, 2012 election.

The document contained the local government by local government analysis of the register as compiled by him and not an expert he deposed in his original Petition before the tribunal.

Counsel to Governor Mimiko, Chief Adebayo Adenipekun, SAN, had objected to the admissibility of the document, arguing that it was not signed as required by law.

Adenipekun prayed the tribunal to dismiss the document on three grounds including failure of the maker to sign it which automatically rendered the document worthless.

Oke was led in evidence by his Counsel, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.
