THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senate President David Mark, Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma- Egba and reporters covering the PDP have all described the death of Assistant Political Editor of the Guardian Newspapers, Mr. John-Abba Ogbodo in an auto crash on Thursday as painful and shocking.
The late Ogbodo died in a ghastly motor accident in Achigilli village Ayangba, KogiState on his way for an official assignment in Awka, AnambraState.
In a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh stressed that the party was thrown into mourning when the news of his death got to the National Secretariat.
Metuh who described the late Ogbodo, who covered the activities of the PDP for many years, as an exceptional and very hard working journalist, noted that he contributed immensely to the development of the country through his reportage of political events.
On his part, Senate President David Mark who wept for the late Ogbodo noted that he was a vibrant, versatile and resourceful Journalist who was professionally minded at all times.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media, Kola Ologbondiyan, the Senate President literarily broke down and struggled to fight back tears as the news of the death of John Abba -Ogbodo filtered into town.
The statement read, ‘’Senator Mark in an unusual subdued voice lamented the untimely demise of Ogbodo whom he described as an accomplished Journalist and a worthy son of BenueState.
”I feel so devastated. Ogbodo was like my son. Our relationship became stronger and cemented when I met him in the National Assembly as a Journalist, of course, being my relation and one of my constituents, it was like home away from home for both of us.
”Death is an inevitable end. We don’t plan for it. It must come when it shall. But frankly speaking, this is one death so cruel.
