UYO—No fewer than 450 students have stormed State Security Service, SSS, office, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to seek permission to protest against alleged plans by government officials to  hijack National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, annual convention billed to hold in the state.

The students, who chanted solidarity songs, threatened to resist any attempt by government to impose a new executive on them.

Vanguard gathered that the annual convention, which was initially slated for December 13-15, was allegedly delayed by the Local Organising Committee, LOC, and the Convention Planning Committee, CPC, as a result of alleged plan to hijack the association’s elections.

Mr Baba Razak, postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, alleged that the elections were being delayed so as to get the students exhausted financially to get their votes cheaply.
