ENUGU – THE Governor Sullivan Chime-led administration of  Enugu State has been told to quickly disburse to the flood victims in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state the N250 million released by the Federal Government for the welfare of  the people displaced by  flood in the state.

The flood victims in the area who have continued to lament their plights, said they had not received any assistance from the state government, despite the release of the fund to it since the past three weeks.

Most of the flood victims in the area crossed into the border communities of the council from the neighbouring communities in Ibaji Local  Government Area of Kogi State which were completely submerged.

A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is also a leader of the Iggah community, one of the communities affected by the deadly flood which also ravaged some parts of Kogi State, Chief Maximus Okuta, called on the state government to disburse without further delay the funds.

But state Commi- ssioner for Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke  told our reporter on telephone that the state government had earlier made a representation when the chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government visited the victims.

He did not say whether the government made any donations or not. He also declined comments on whether the N250 million released by the Federal Government has been received by the state government.
