Asaba—DEMOCRATIC Peoples Party (DPP) governorship candidate during the 2007 gubernatorial election in Delta State, Chief Great Ogboru, has said he continued  to approach the Election Petitions Tribunal to challenge the election of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan because of the process that brought him to power.

He confessed that the governor as a person is a good man but insisted that he is quarrelling with the electoral process that brought him to power.
Speaking through his brother, Chief Turner Ogboru, during a thanksgiving service held in Warri last Sunday, Ogboru described Uduaghan as a good man, who he had nothing against as a person.

He said:  “We thank God for today; Chief Great Ogboru would have been here because we are part and parcel of the Uduaghan family.  We are children of light and of the day; we are children of love and peace and so we play the politics of love.

“We have not been in the Tribunal because of His Excellency or his deputy. For two of them, we will not go near the court because of our personal relationship with them; we have been in court, as a matter of fact, on principles.

“That we should not have a state where people should be elected without proper voting, because of the generations to come, because of our children and their own children.“Today, the process threw up a good man and the same process can throw up a murderer that will make all of us to be in trouble.  We have all been going freely as we are doing our electoral petition, running up and down from court to court.

“We have been moving freely because we have good people on the throne, if not, we would be having accidents.  We greatly rejoice, we are very very happy.  In fact, it pains Chief Great Ogboru, he is not the one talking to His Excellency, and he would have been here but has committed himself for a very important assignment.

“We want to assure the people of Delta, you know His Excellency is from the minority, which is why we have not been saying anything apart from court, so that they will not say we are oppressing him.

“We have also prayed for a day when the minority group will rule in Delta as a light to the rest of the country so that the rest of the country can understand our position, when we say we want to rule because the resources are coming from here, so we are happy God is doing it and doing it very nicely and this time he did it in my own house, so we thank God for it.”

Responding, Governor Uduaghan said “our coming here today is not just about Tribunal or birthday.  I don’t worry about tribunal because if you go to Tribunal the election is not my own, it is God’s own, the seat I am sitting on is God’s own.

“When you go to the Tribunal, you will be wrestling with God, so Turner thank you, when you wrestle with God you will never succeed, I really don’t worry myself about any tribunal.”
