WARRI—GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has been called upon to send relief material to Ugborodo communities to assuage their sufferings occasioned by flood that has submerged all its communities.

Similarly, residents of Ugbori, Ekurede Itsekiri, Ugbuwangue, Old Ports, Okumagba layout, G.R.A, especially around the High Court and Central hospital areas of the oil city, yesterday got their share of the flood experience as the express road was overtaken by flood.

Niger Delta activist and former spokesperson of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, Mr. Mathew Itsekure, said the flood currently ravaging some new areas of the state had been a perennial occurrence in Ugborodo, Escravos aixs, saying they, like other victims now been rehabilitated, also need government’s attention.

Mr. Itsekure, who decried the state government’s disdain towards Ugborodo yearly flood problems, wondered why they now took special interest in flood matters, leaving out the Ugborodo case.

He said Chief Ayiri Emami had been in the forefront in the call on government to construct shore protection for communities located at the mouth of the Atlantic ocean in Warri South-West council area of the state.

He noted that Ugborodo oil rich communities were on the verge of being wiped out of existence by the Atlantic ocean, as oil majors in the area have their premises fully protected.

Meanwhile, food stuff prices that sky-rocketed in the wake of the flood disaster in parts of the country have reasonably normalised.
