Falae blasts Tinubu: We won’t serve a foreign god

BY DAYO  JOHNSON
A Chieftain of Afenifere and former Finance Minister Chief Olu Falae yesterday blasted the national leader of the ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu describing him as a fake progressive.

Falae said the People of the South West Region should look beyond the façade that the leader of the A C N is one of the progressives.

He spoke at the round-off of the rallies of the Labour Party in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The rally was witnessed by several dignitaries including the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC president, Abdulwaheeb Omar who led 42 unions to the rally.

Disclaiming the progressive credentials of the ACN national leader, Falae said:

.According to him “”Bola Tinubu has never display any trait of a progressive. Tinubu has always been working against the interest of the Yoruba race by conspiring with leaders from other region to marginalise the South west region at the federal level, all what he does is to protect his selfish interest”

The Afenifere leader said Tinubu destabilised the Afenifere group and the Alliance for Democracy before teaming up with some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to form the ACN.

The former Secretary to the Federal Government said he was one of the Afenifere leaders who installed Tinubu as the governor of Lagos when he prevailed on the late Funso Williams to step down because of the intervention of the late leader of the group Chief Abraham Adesanya.

According to him” I was part of the decision making body that install Tinubu as the Lagos state governor in 1999, some leaders of the Afenifere preferred the late Funsho Williams. I can assure you that he will continue with the developmental projects across the state, those who have not benefited from the good work will feel the impact of democracy in his second coming”.

…Akeredolu chides Falae over remarks

The Akeredolu Campaign Organization (ACO) in a sharp reaction dismissed the insinuations raised by Falae at the rally describing his utterances at the rally as unbecoming of a statesman.

In a statement by Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, the Director of Media, Publicity and Strategy, the ACO said that Falae has no political worth and is indeed anti-Yoruba given what the organization noted as Falae’s collaboration with the Ibrahim Babangida administration.

“Today, Chief Falae has exposed himself as one of the greatest anti-Yourba elements by his statement on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in which he claimed that the Alliance for Democracy (AD)  would have given the governorship ticket of Lagos state to Late Funso Williams instead of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

How could AD have preferred Funso Williams, who was a key figure in the Late General Sanni Abacha’s transition programme being a governorship aspirant of the United National Congress Party(UNCP), one of the five parties described by Late Chief Bola Ige as the five fingers of a leprous hand.”

A man who killed Kudirat Abiola, Alfred Rewane, shot at the Late Abraham Adesanya and chased many Yoruba leaders to exile. It is a notorious fact that Asiwaju Tinubu won the primary fair and square.”

“For us at ACO, we know that Falae can not at this time in our history be the clog in the wheel of the progress of the Yoruba nation march to full integration leading to sustainable development. Ondo people are wiser they can not be hoodwinked by people who have fed fat on their collective wealth for so long.

The D-day between reactionary forces and progressive, between light and darkness, between tokenism and enduring development is October 20. The great people of Ondo State will vote for progress, light, enduring development which ACN represents.”
