BY Emman  Ovuakporie

JIGAWA – A Lebanese, Mr. Tony Saye, has been summoned by the House of Representatives for abandoning the Ajingi-Jahun-Kafin Hausa road project in Jigawa State.

The 105km road awarded since 2009 was said to have been abandoned by Techno Impex, allegedly owned by the Lebanese.

Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Wuhid, who led fellow members on oversight visit to the site said: “This contractor must come and explain why between 2009 and now he had only achieved 6.6 percent of this contract.

“He cannot try this kind of nonsense in his country, Lebanon. Here he thinks anything goes. But we are saying no, this 7th Assembly will not take this kind of rubbish.

“We will ensure this man is duly invited to explain why Jigawa and Nigeria should wait for him to complete this job at his own pace.”

Zonal Co-ordinator, Mr. Mohammed Danyyabu, said: “The contractor even took the ministry to court for attempting to terminate this contract and the court gave a grace period till November 4.”
