SIX days after Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Prof Hope Eghagha was abducted on the Warri-Abraka-Agbor highway and his police orderly shot dead by kidnappers, his whereabouts remain a mystery.

A suspected linkman to the kidnappers had called 24 hours after his kidnap demanding a payoff of N10 million to facilitate his release.

However, realizing that security agents could trace him if he proceeded with the strategy, he had switched off the phone since then.

Police spokesperson in the state, Mr. Charles Muka, told Saturday Vanguard when contacted, yesterday, that the police were searching for the kidnappers.

Meantime, a group, Uduaghan Vision Students, on Thursday, condemned the kidnapping of Prof Eghagha and killing of his police orderly, and called for his release.

State coordinator of the organization, Comrade Phillip Urieh in a statement wondered why such a calamity befell an honest and God-fearing man like Prof Eghagha.
“We wondered how that could have happened to a honest and God fearing man like Prof. Hope Eghagha who is always standing for the good of Delta Students.”

Urieh urged students in the state to be watchful, pray for God’s divine protection for Prof. Hope Eghagha, and sympathized with family of the late police orderly.

He enjoined them to “refrain from any form of association that will destroy their future and the image of our dear Delta State”, adding that students should be security alert and report any suspicious movement to security agents.
