Recently players and officials complained about the revocation of the rewards given them by the Oyo State government of Compol Edore Oyakhire in 1998 for winning the Nigerian Professioal league and the WAFU Cup by the succeeding civilian government of Lam Adesina.

They have taken the case a step further by writing through the then chairman, Elder ‘Bode Oyewole to the current governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi, seeking a review and redress of the “injustice” meted out to them despite bringing honour to the state.

In a letter to Governor Ajimobi titled ‘Seeking Redress on Withdrawal of Reward’, Elder Oyewole, the Ikolaba Basorun of Ibadanland, said that they have taken their plea to the Oyo State government because of their believe that “ a government that redresses injustice or act of commission of her predecessors is definitely a government thatv has the fear of God.”

Elder Oyewole restated that the government that took over from from Compol Oyakhire revoked  the reward of plots of land and money given the 1998 set of 3SC by Oyakhire few months after it took over in 1999 without any official or publicly announced justification.

“My dilema as the then chairman of the club is that any time I meet the 1998 set of players who won the trophies for the State, they still ask questions about the reward. I’m appealing to you as a compassionate governor to assist us in reviewing and redressing this painful issue or posterity sake,” Elder Oyewole wrote.

According to Elder Oyewole, each member of the 1998 team was given a plot of land and N1 million, each member of the management was promised a plot of land and N2million while the chairman was to get  N3 million and a plot of land.
