ADO EKITI — Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi  has  vowed to  increase the number of beneficiaries of the social security  for the elderly above 65 years of

Fayemi made this disclosure at Oke Ayedun Ekiti in Ikole Local Government  yesterday, pledging to increase  the 2013 proposed Appropriation Bill for the prosecution of the scheme
The governor  said the step  became imperative following increasing  number of qualified persons that are yet to be captured by  the programme.

The sum of  N100 million is  currently being expended  on the scheme monthly to pay N5,000 monthly stipends to 20,000 elders, saying   he had received complaints from members of Action Congress of Nigeria  that more opposition party members were benefitting from the Scheme  than ACN members.

At the occasion where over  300 members of Peoples Democratic Party in Ward 10 in Ikole Council Area, led by a retired School Administrator, Mrs. Grace Aribisala, defected to Action Congress of Nigeria, Fayemi said  the social security scheme in the state cuts across the parties
Mrs.  Aribisala, who presented the decam- pees  disclosed that Fayemi’s  impressive performances forced them to dump  PDP.
