CALABAR—CROSS River State Government, yesterday, said it had spent N2 billion on the construction of Channel II drain, which is expected to address the problem of flooding in Calabar, the state capital.
State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Legor Idagbo, who briefed newsmen on activities of his ministry, said his mandate was to construct roads and provide road infrastructure, adding that flood was one of the greatest challenges facing construction work in the state capital.
Idagbo explained that the state embarked on the channel II drain project with the hope that when completed, the problem of flooding in parts of Calabar would be a thing of the past.
