The long hand of the law Wednesday caught up with a serial motorcycle snatcher, Jamiu Rasaki, as he was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment for the two count charge of conspiracy and robbery by an Ikeja High Court.

The trial judge, Justice Habeeb Abiru found Rasaki guilty of each of the two count charge  against the convict three years ago and sentenced him to 14 years each of the charges.

Abiru ordered that the sentences are to run concurrently beginning from Oct. 27,2009 when Rasaki, was arrested for the offence.

Justice Abiru said from the evidence before the court, it was clear that Rasaki had acted in concert with the other men to dispossess their victim of his motorcycle.

According to the prosecution, the convict was apprehended at 31 Road, House 3, Gowon Estate, Egbeda on Oct. 27,2009, while attempting to rob one Sunday Vandi of his Bajaj motorcycle.

Subsequently, he was arraigned two years later on a two count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery, which he pleaded not guilty.

The judge, however, exonerated him of the armed robbery charge, which the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt.
