MAKURDI – No fewer than seven persons were, yesterday, feared dead as rising flood waters continued to ravage Obagaji and other parts of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
Vanguard gathered that over 200 houses, huts, fish farms and farmland were also swept away in the riverine communities that make up the local government council.
Caretaker Chairman of the local government, Mr. Momoh Audu, who spoke about the tragedy, said the natives of the area had lost over half of their farmland to the devastation.
He, however, debunked claims that 65 persons died in the council area, weekend, in a boat mishap.
