UYO – Senator Aloysious Etuk representing Akwa Ibom North senatorial zone and the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Hon Bassey Etim weekend called for urgent review of the Presidency Act, Land Use Act and the 13 percent oil derivation.

The duo said the review was necessary to further strengthen the present administration’s performance and add value to various forms of reforms going on in the country.

They took turn to demand for the review at a conference on electoral reform held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The conference which held weekend was aimed at sensitizing Nigerians in the South South geo-political zone of the country on the processes of electoral reforms and the urgent need for equal participation by various strata of the society.

In his remark, member representing Uyo federal constituency Hon Bassey Etim said there is need to formulate acceptable electoral laws for the country, considering the open challenges confronting the electoral process.

He stated that electoral malpractices shall become history in the system if veritable electoral laws are put in place and allowed to function effectively without interloping with some of the barbaric ways elections are conducted in the past.

The speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Chief Ignatius Edet, who delivered a keynote address at the conference, said the town hall meeting was timely because the issue of Electoral reforms in Nigeria is on the front burner of national discourse and
urged the people to participate actively.
