ABAKALIKI—THE Judiciary Commission of Inquiry set up by Ebonyi state government to look into the operations of the collapsed Nigeria Cement Company Limited (NIGERCEM) Nkalagu, has promised to be fair and unbiased to all parties involved in the matter.
Speaking at its inaugural sitting in Abakaliki Government House, chairman of the Commission, Justice Adrian Orah (rtd) said that the panel is a fact finding commission and not a court of trial to prosecute anyone, warning that the panel will also not tolerate any party, group or persons, who attempts to witch-hurting any person(s) appearing before the panel.
The commission said that it has no vested interest in the subject matter, which is Nigercem, emphasizing that its terms of reference includes to find out details of the privatization or sales of shares of Nigercem in 2002; ascertain the extent the core investor, Eastern Bulkcem Nigeria Limited (EBNL), or other investors have operated Nigercem factory in accordance to the terms and conditions of the Privatization agreement.
“Each member of the commission, including myself as chairman, took judiciary oath in the name of God almighty to do justice to all manner of persons without fear or favour, we have no vested interest in the subject matter.
