AWKA—THIRTEEN suspected kidnappers and armed robbers alleged to have been terrorising parts of Anambra and Imo states were, yesterday, apprehended by the Anambra State Police command in what was seen as the greatest haul of suspected criminals in the state in recent time.
At the headquarters of the state Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, at Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area where they are being detained, three of the kidnap suspects, namely Chinedu Eze from Ideato in Imo State, Omaliko Ugochukwu from Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State and Okwuchukwu Odo from Alor also in Idemili South Local Government Area claimed they were new in the business of kidnapping.
Other suspects arrested, include Ifeanyi Okoye, Uchechukwu Akujinwa and Ikechukwu Chiajunwa, all from Obosi in Idemili North, as well as Chijioke Udoh from Oraukwu, Idemili South and Onyeka Ajato from Awka.
The rest of the suspects were Ikechukwu Nwali from Ezza in Ebonyi State, Ikenna Ezike from Otolo Nnewi, Uchenna Chukwuemeka from Umueze Anam and Obed Ikenna from Ebonyi State.
Also arrested was the person allegedly supplying guns to the suspects, Mr. Onyema Odoh, 37, who claimed that he was living in Benin Republic, but relocated to Anambra State to join what he described as the lucrative business of supplying guns to robbers and kidnappers.
