By BENJAMIN NJOKU

Mild drama ensued last weekend at the Niteshift Coliseum, Ikeja, when the Senior Assistant to Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State on Diaspora, Mr Eric Nwadinobi defied all protocols and   openly proposed marriage to sexy singer and performer, Patience Achena, popularly known as Davina in a manner that re-enacted the story of how Tuface Idibia proposed marriage to his sweetheart, Annie Macaulay few months ago.

The lover boy flew into Lagos from Umuahia unannounced the same night to perform the ‘romantic ritual’ which took  the star-studded audience at the Entertainment Express newspapers’ one year bash tagged: Express Nite 1, by surprise. Davina, like other entertainers that graced the event, had just finished performing her “Femi” love song when her longstanding boyfriend stepped on the stage to perform the unexpected.

He brought out a ring and said  “We’ve known each other for almost three years now and I love everything about you. Please, will you marry me?” The entire crowd went frenzy as sexy and tearful Davina said ‘Yes’. The excited about-to-be-couple said they would soon make the D-day known to all. Overwhelmed by the proposal, Davina who hails from Kogi State said she met Nwadinobi three years ago after a function.

According to her, “I was not expecting this kind of surprise. I’m overwhelmed.”  On his own part, Mr Nwadinobi said “ Davina didn’t know I was going to propose to her today. I arranged with the Governor of the Niteshift Coliseum when he came to my office in Umuahia few weeks ago. The organisers also knew about the game plan. She is somebody I know that if I’m down tomorrow, she will be there to lift me up.”

Other stars at the event include AY, Elenu, MC Abbey and his wife, Enenche D, Igos, Yemi Sax, Mr. Raw and X Project. Nollywood stars, Stephanie Okereke-idahosa, Victor Osuagwu, Cynthia Agholor, Bhaira Mcwizu, Benedict Johnson and Zik Zulu among others were also there to grace the ocassion.
