Brief Essentials, a Nigerian lingerie and shapewear retailer, has launched an online bra size calculator and fit quiz to help women determine their bra sizes and identify common fitting problems.

The company disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the digital tools were designed to make bra-fitting guidance more accessible, particularly to women who shop online or cannot visit physical stores for professional fitting assistance.

Founder of Brief Essentials, Seun Tayo-Balogun, said many women had lived with discomfort caused by poorly fitting bras for so long that they considered it normal.

She said the bra size calculator guides users through the measurements required to estimate their bra sizes, while the fit quiz helps women who already know their sizes determine whether their current bras fit properly.

“Bra fit is not always straightforward, and many women have lived with discomfort for so long that they assume it is normal,” Tayo-Balogun said.

According to her, the fit quiz identifies common problems involving the band, cups, straps and overall support, helping users understand possible causes of discomfort and possible adjustments.

She explained that the tools were developed using the company’s fitting experience, customer feedback, research and technology to help women make more informed purchasing decisions.

Tayo-Balogun noted that bra sizes could vary across brands and styles, adding that measurements alone might not determine whether a particular bra fits properly.

She said factors including bra construction, band fit, cup volume and the level of support required could also affect how a bra fits an individual.

“Our goal is not simply to sell bras. It is to help women understand fit, make better choices and feel properly supported. Technology allows us to extend that expertise beyond a physical fitting room,” she said.

The company said the bra size calculator and fit quiz are available through its websites, Brief Essentials and Fit Size Guide.
