TEAM Nigeria Wrestling  Technical Adviser, Dr Daniel Igali has added another feather to his cap as he  will be inducted into the International Wrestling Hall of Fame next Friday (August  3 ) in London.

Igali, a Sydney 2000 Olympic Champion in the Freestyle wrestling is one of seven inductees into the Federation International de Luttes Associees (FILA), the international Olympic governing body for the sport of wrestling. “To me it is as big as becoming an Olympic champion,” says Igali.

Continuing, the Nigeria- born Canadian said, “I will always feel pride in winning gold for Canada. I feel confident too that the wrestling talent coming forward amongst all countries competing at these Games in London holds much promise for the sport.”

It’s an honour en par with winning his Olympic gold medal – that’s how Simon Fraser University (SFU) alumnus Igali feels about his Aug. 3 induction into the International Wrestling Hall of Fame.

“Daniel’s induction is huge for all involved in sport in Canada and Nigeria as well,” says SFU wrestling coach Mike Jones, who is expected to be in London for the event.
