Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has debunked a misleading narrative that emanated from a trending video concerning its enforcement action on a billboard structure at the Geri Alimi Underpass.
A statement issued by the agency’s press secretary, Ajiboye Rachael on Thursday stated that its action did not have any political undertone and described the interpretation as misleading. KWASAA said that the removed iron framework was installed without the agency’s approval or supervision, stressing that an improperly installed structure could endanger road users, and the agency cannot ignore such risks.
The statement reads: “The attention of the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has been drawn to a trending video concerning its enforcement action on a billboard structure at the Geri Alimi Underpass.
The Agency is concerned about the misleading narrative surrounding the exercise and wishes to clarify the issues. The enforcement concerns the approval status of the structure and the operator’s outstanding obligations to the Agency. It was not directed at any political party or candidate. Where a political party is directly responsible for a violation, the Agency formally communicates with that party.”
