BENIN CITY – THE Coordinator of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Manchester, United Kingdom Chapter, Comrade Nosa Imadiyi, has commended the Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo for appointing Hon. Terry Igiebor as Chairman of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission, describing it as a bold and people-centered decision.

Recall that Ogiebor was a few days ago cleared by the Edo State House of Assembly as the chairman nominee of the Commission.

In a message issued by Imadiyi, the group lauded the Governor for demonstrating visionary leadership and political will in tackling the ecological challenges confronting Edo State.

He stated that the appointment reflected the Governor’s commitment to environmental sustainability, disaster prevention, and the protection of lives and property across the state.

He commended Governor Okpebholo for appointing a man of Igiebor’s pedigree, capacity and grassroots experience noting that the government has sent a clear message that the welfare of Edo people remains top priority.

The VGN Manchester Coordinator noted that “Edo State has in recent years suffered the devastating impact of flooding, erosion and environmental degradation, which have displaced communities, destroyed farmlands, and threatened livelihoods” and expressed confidence that Igiebor, with his wealth of experience in governance, grassroots mobilization and community development, is the right man to drive the Commission’s mandate and deliver results that will make Edo State more resilient to climate change.

He pledged the VGN Manchester’s readiness to partner with the Commission being a grassroots security and community-based organization which he said is strategically positioned to support the Commission through public sensitisation, early warning systems, and community mobilization across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State.

He urged all stakeholders, community leaders and citizens to support the Governor’s administration and the new Commission to succeed.
