The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by the National Financial Secretary, Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola, alongside members of his team and the Chairman of the NANS Joint Campus Council (JCC), Oyo State Axis, have paid a strategic courtesy and familiarisation visit to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, as part of the association’s sustained engagement with critical stakeholders in promoting peace, security, and the welfare of Nigerian students.
The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian student community, with particular emphasis on enhancing campus security, protecting students and educational institutions, promoting peaceful coexistence, and fostering intelligence-sharing to combat crime within and around tertiary institutions.
Speaking during the engagement, John commended the Commissioner of Police for his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order across Oyo State.
He noted that the proactive efforts of the Oyo State Police Command have continued to contribute significantly to the safety of residents, particularly students and members of the academic community.
The National Financial Secretary reaffirmed the commitment of the National Association of Nigerian Students to sustaining a cordial and productive working relationship with the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that strategic partnerships with security agencies remain indispensable to achieving a peaceful, secure, and conducive academic environment across the country.
As part of activities marking the forthcoming National Inauguration of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), scheduled to hold on 14th July, 2026, in Abuja, John presented a symbolic appreciation gift to the Commissioner of Police in recognition of his exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to public safety, and dedicated service to the nation.
The leadership of NANS expressed optimism that the existing partnership between the Association and the Nigeria Police Force would continue to grow stronger in the collective interest of national development, youth empowerment, campus security, and the protection of students across Nigeria.
