Tributes have continued to pour in for former Executive Director of the then Okpella Cement Company, Pa Reuben Eghobor, JP, whose burial will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Ekpoma, Edo State.

Pa Eghobor, a respected politician, educationist and community leader, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 92 after a lifetime of distinguished service to education, public administration and community development.

According to the family, the funeral service will begin at 12 noon at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Ekpoma, Anglican Communion, after which he will be interred at his residence in Emuhi, Ekpoma.

Announcing the funeral arrangements, his first son, Dr. Kingsley Ighobor, an official at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, described his father as an exemplary leader whose life positively impacted generations.

“Our father lived an exemplary life. He raised a loving family and made significant contributions to education, public service and the development of his community,” Dr. Ighobor said.

“He had a remarkable intergenerational appeal. Young and old alike were drawn to him as a mentor, counsellor and friend. We want to ensure that everyone whose life he touched has the opportunity to pay their last respects and celebrate a life so well lived.”

Popularly known as “Baby Face,” Pa Eghobor began his career as a school teacher before venturing into politics and public administration. He later served as Executive Director of the then Okpella Cement Company, one of the foremost government-owned enterprises in the former Bendel State, where he earned a reputation for integrity, diligence and dedicated public service.

Throughout his life, he remained committed to education, community development and mentoring young people, earning the admiration and respect of people across generations.

Family members, former colleagues, political associates, traditional rulers, community leaders, former students and friends from Nigeria and abroad are expected to attend the funeral ceremonies.

A reception for guests will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Gold Royal Event Centre, Ebhoakhuale, Ekpoma, while a Thanksgiving Service is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2026, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Ekpoma, Anglican Communion.

Pa Eghobor is survived by his children, grandchildren, relatives and numerous friends and associates, who remember him for his wisdom, generosity and unwavering commitment to public service and the development of his community.
