Adeleke campaign hails thugs’ arrest, says Osun people guaranteed peaceful poll

Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke

The Imole Campaign Council for the reelection of Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, for the arrest of political thugs in the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, the campaign spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said the arrest guaranteed the safety of the good people of Osun and the peaceful conduct of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

Olajengbesi said, “The arrest of notorious thugs by the police are steps in the direction and ones that signal the return of law and order to our good state.”

He recalled that last Thursday in Abuja, he submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, urging him to deploy a tactical team to end politically motivated killings, arrest the masterminds, protect Osun people and restore peace in the state.

“I’m delighted at the swift response of IGP Disu, as what followed that petition was the combined visit of the Deputy Inspector General of Police supervising the Southwest Zone, Adegoke Fayoade, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, to Osun. The police top brass gave the right orders, and we are seeing the results in real time,” he stated on Tuesday.

Olajengbesi said, “With boots on the ground and the ongoing arrests of perpetrators of crime, the people of Osun have the confidence to go into the August election in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of fear of violence, intimidation or coercion.

“The IGP’s swift response has demonstrated to our people that law and order would be upheld at all times by the police and that their safety is guaranteed as we march to the August poll.

“The morale of Osun people is further boosted with the IGP’s swift response to securing lives and property and they are encouraged to troop out en masse to cast their votes on August 15, 2026.”
