ABUJA — An Igbomina leader and President of Egbe Omo Igbomina, Sir Bisi Fakayode, has said Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim’s legacy should be judged not by the political offices he has sought or held, but by the lives he has transformed, the opportunities he has created and the hope he has inspired, as the presidential hopeful marked his 57th birthday.

The occasion, he said, offered an opportunity to reflect on Hashim’s record as a pro-democracy activist, philanthropist and advocate of national unity, and on the contributions he has made over the years.

In a statement he signed to commemorate the occasion, Fakayode described Hashim as an exceptional Nigerian whose influence extends beyond politics, saying his decades of public service have contributed to Nigeria’s democratic development, community development and human capital growth.

“His greatest legacy is not merely the political battles he has fought, but the lives he has transformed, the opportunities he has created and the hope he has inspired in countless Nigerians,” Fakayode said.

He said Hashim’s commitment to justice and national unity was evident during the pro-democracy struggle, when he opposed oppression and defended the rights of citizens.

“Gbenga Hashim has shown that politics can be a platform for service, sacrifice and national transformation when driven by integrity and compassion,” he added.

Fakayode also said Hashim helped nurture democratic ideals in Kwara State and across the country by investing in people, ideas and institutions at a time when building credible political alternatives required courage and conviction.

He added that many people who have gone on to distinguish themselves in public service benefited from Hashim’s mentorship, encouragement and commitment to human capital development.

Beyond politics, Fakayode credited Hashim with supporting education, youth empowerment, vulnerable families and humanitarian causes.

According to him, Hashim’s broad national outlook reflects the possibility of leadership that rises above ethnic and regional divisions.

“Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim represents the Nigeria we all desire, a nation where service, character and humanity remain the defining qualities of leadership,” he said.

Fakayode prayed for continued wisdom, good health and strength for Hashim as he marks his 57th birthday.
