Fresh evidence has emerged of how Peter Okoye of the defunct P-Square group invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

Peter in some of his social media posts, had denied involving his twin brother in the ongoing alleged fraud case with his elder brother and erstwhile manager, Jude Okoye ongoing before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

However, a copy of his statement to the EFCC sighted by Vanguard proved the contrary.  

Also, in series of posts on his verified Instagram handle dated August 12, 2024, Peter said: “I challenge Paul or anyone else to produce any petition that I, Peter Okoye, my management or my legal team ever filed against my twin brother Paul or that even mentions his name.” 

 Meanwhile, in his handwritten petition dated January 29, 2024, Peter actually called on the anti-graft agency to investigate the account of his twin brother Paul from “2004 till date.” 

He also requested the investigation of Jude’s wife, from “2004 till date,” even though his elder brother Jude never met her till late 2013. Besides, P-Square relocated to Lagos in 2005, after which they released the Get Squared album that shot them to the limelight. 

  Part of the petition reads: “I will appreciate if the commission can investigate the account of Northside Music Ltd from 2015 till date, the account of Northside Entertainment Ltd from 2007 till date, the account of Jude Okoye from 2004 till date, the account of Paul Okoye from 2004 till date, and the account of Umeokeke Ifeoma Okoye from 2004 till date.”

Investigations further revealed that, upon invitation by the EFCC, Paul was also detained before he was released after meeting bail conditions. 

The above, contradicted Peter’s assertions that he never involved his twin brother, Paul, in the alleged fraud allegations. 

It will be recalled that, based on the petition and upon conclusion of the investigation by the EFCC, Jude and his firms were dragged before both a Federal High Court and Lagos State High Court for prosecution.
