The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development has commended the Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Dr. Bayo Adefuye, for what it described as remarkable achievements in grassroots development and service delivery.

The commendation came on Tuesday during the Committee’s oversight inspection of projects being executed by the council as part of a statewide assessment of developmental projects across Local Government Areas, LGAs, and Local Council Development Areas LCDAs, in Lagos State.

The oversight exercise, which commenced on June 22, is aimed at evaluating the implementation of projects, assessing service delivery, and ensuring prudent management of public resources across councils in the state.

The Committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Ganiyu Okanlawon, included Surajudeen Tijani,. Abiodun Orekoya, Stephen Ogundipe, Samuel Apata, Adebola Shabi and Jubril AbdulKareem.
During the visit, the lawmakers inspected various projects undertaken by the Yaba LCDA administration and received briefings on ongoing developmental initiatives and interventions designed to improve the welfare of residents.

Speaking after the inspection, members of the Committee praised Adefuye’s administration for its commitment to infrastructural development, transparency and effective governance. They noted that the projects inspected reflected a strong dedication to grassroots development and responsive leadership.
The lawmakers also lauded the council chairman for implementing people-oriented programmes and sustaining infrastructural renewal across the LCDA, describing the level of development witnessed in the area as commendable and worthy of emulation by other councils.

Responding, Adefuye expressed appreciation to the Committee for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects and impactful programmes that would continue to improve the socio-economic well-being of residents.

According to him, the achievements recorded by the council were made possible through the support of the Lagos State Government, the State House of Assembly and the cooperation of residents.

He assured the lawmakers that his administration would continue to prioritise projects and initiatives that directly address the needs of the people and contribute to sustainable development within the council area.

The oversight visit forms part of the constitutional responsibility of the Lagos State House of Assembly to monitor government activities, promote accountability and ensure effective service delivery at the grassroots level.

The Committee is expected to continue its inspection tour of other LGAs and LCDAs across the state as part of its comprehensive assessment of ongoing and completed projects aimed at fostering sustainable development throughout Lagos.
